i believe that

" i believe that since i have to work, i might as well do something i love."
This is true, this is why im studying what i love; so i can do what i love. I love sewing the cutest and unique things, i love to sew what makes me happy.. Happiness, love, freedom; My inspirations :)

Some say an emotion is a hard thing to draw inspiration from. I don't agree. I was told there was no real direction i could go with and that it would be hard to grasp ideas from because it's not a physical thing.

Well I say..you can! Soon I will post some images of what I've sewn. With a little description of my inspiration.

Dare i say it?

Toiling is important, Yes that's right. The "test" that you sew to make sure your pattern, fabric, style, porportions and all that are correct, is vital! i can not say it enough! During this stage you need to zoom in on any problems you had while sewing, so you can fix your pattern before getting to the real stuff.


You can see what you do and don't like, what looks better as a fashion illustration and what actually looks flattering as a garment ;)

Here is a toile for a little dress i made, you can see i was pinning and cutting the twist feature. I needed it to fit to the "shell" i had underneath. (Excuse the mess!)

Here is the final dress, notice how it now has sleeves and an underlayer? When toiling it is not neccesary to sew each feature or layer.

The finished product! It is a cute dress :) with a pale pink seersucker fabric, a shirred waist and chiffon frill hem.

Last Day

So after handing in the remainder of my assignments today, i can only assume i don't need to go back to college for the rest of the year. Fingers crossed i pass! Their was an amazing sale at my college store today, 80% off fabric! Yes, that's right..80%!

Here is a sneak peak of my little find.
i bought a total of 5m of this lovely fabric, not too sure yet of my plans. I'm sure it will be something cute :)

It's worth it.

So I have almost finished my second year of study. Only one short week to go :-) and I'll no longer be a sophomore to this wonderful college.
For those who don't know..as this is my first post.. I am on the edge of completing my diploma in fashion design and technology.

It has been a whirlwind year of struggle and accomplishment. The late nights, the tears, the early mornings; well worth the feeling of pride and satisfaction.

Wonderful, wonderful! The relief of one months holidays will be delightful...I have been working two jobs to afford my little baby girl.. I am picking her up the weekend of finals, she is a purebred whippet. Early Christmas present to myself ! :) Not too sure yet on a name, but that will all fit into place!
